Free Things to Do in Denver This Month (May 2026 Guide)

One of the best parts about living in Denver is that there’s always something going on—and not everything has to cost you money. Between museums, cultural attractions, and walkable neighborhoods, the city does a great job of making experiences accessible. May is no exception, even if it’s a lighter month for official “Free Days.” If you’re looking for ways to get out, explore the city, and enjoy Denver without spending much, here are a few opportunities worth putting on your calendar.

May 2026 Free Days in Denver

There are a handful of standout free or pay-what-you-wish days this month at some of Denver’s most popular cultural institutions:

May 2nd - Thornton Community Band - Free Concert 7pm-8:30pm

May 7th - The Colorado Railroad Museum Free Day 9am - 5pm

May 12th - The Denver Art Museum participates in its SCFD Free Day, making one of the city’s premier art destinations accessible to everyone at no cost.

May 19th - The Air and Space Museum Free Day 10am-5pm

May 20th - The Museum of Outdoor Arts 10am-4pm

May 30th - Four Mile Historic Park Free Admission Day 10am-4pm

More Ways to Enjoy Denver for Free

Even outside of scheduled museum free days, May is a great time to take advantage of everything Denver has to offer outdoors.

Neighborhoods like RiNo, LoHi, and Washington Park are perfect for walking around, grabbing coffee, and spending a few hours outside. Public art installations throughout the city also make it easy to turn a simple walk into an experience. And with the weather finally warming up, local trails and parks start to become some of the best “free entertainment” in the city. Sometimes the best way to enjoy Denver isn’t planned around an event at all—it’s just getting outside and exploring.

A Quick Tip for Free Days

If you’re planning to visit any of the museums on a free day, it’s worth going early or checking ahead for timed entry requirements. These days are popular, and while the energy is great, crowds are part of the experience. A little planning goes a long way in making the most of it.

Why This Matters

Living in Denver isn’t just about the home you choose—it’s about the lifestyle that comes with it. Access to culture, outdoor spaces, and community events is part of what makes the city such a strong place to call home. Free Days are just one example of how much there is to take advantage of if you know where to look.

Thinking About Making a Move?

If you’re thinking about buying or selling in Denver, understanding the lifestyle is just as important as understanding the market. I help clients not only navigate real estate, but also get clear on what day-to-day life actually looks like in different parts of the city.

If you want to talk through your options or build a plan for your next move, I’m always happy to connect.
